Title An analysis of chromium, copper, and zinc in organs of a chromate worker.
Bibliographic information June 1980, Vol.46, No.2, p.141-150. 21 ref.
Abstract The content of chromium, copper, and zinc and the valency of chromium were determined in organs of a worker with considerable exposure to hexavalent chromium for 30 years in a chromate producing plant, who died of maxillary and lung cancer 10 years after his retirement. The chromium in the worker's lung averaged 3,555ppb compared to 86-399ppb in controls. Other organs also contained more chromium than those of the controls. The amounts of copper and zinc did not vary as widely. The ratio of hexavalent chromium to total chromium was 29.3% in the worker's and 12.9 to 38.7% in controls; the ratio for the other organs was higher.
