Abstract This data sheet gives a roundup of various processes for shaping materials containing asbestos (especially asbestos cement) by sawing, cutting, machining, moulding, etc. Contents: asbestos dust control measures (removal of dust from materials after unpacking, work with asbestos in separate premises designed so that concealed asbestos dust cannot collect, cleaning of machinery and premises after use; use of reduced-dust techniques, local exhaust ventilation for removal of machining dust); industrial health and hygiene methods (dust masks, dustproof clothing); precautions during demolition work; disposal of asbestos waste (in hermetically sealed bags); overview of Netherlands legislation (prohibition of certain operations involving the use of asbestos, mandatory procedures for limiting exposure to asbestos).
