| Abstract |
This handbook, intended for easy consultation by workers in industrial plants, gives a roundup of the present state of the art in this field. A review of basic physiological concepts and climatic indices for evaluation of microclimates is followed by considerations on the general and health engineering possibilities of protection against high temperatures: correct diet, acclimatisation and fitness, work breaks, ventilation and air conditioning, water cooling, protection against radiant heat, protection from the sun, protective clothing, eye protection. Appendix: list of publications, standards and regulations in force in the Federal Republic of Germany. |
