| Abstract |
Communication to the Joint Technical Committee for the Wholesale and Retail Food Trades (Lille, France). The types of work at heights (generally 4-5m) required in department stores (replacement of fluorescent tubes, installation or renewal of decoration, rearrangement of departments, etc.) are reviewed. A section devoted to stores at a single level examines the precautions required in the use of rider trucks, which should be used only exceptionally for this type of work, and of aerial baskets, designed especially for these tasks. Equipment used in multistorey shops (ladders, stools, mobile platforms, etc.) is referred to in the second part. The importance of planning, information, and training is stressed. |
