Title Harvester exposure to zolone (phosalone) residues in peach orchards.
Bibliographic information Mar. 1979, Vol.21, No.3, p.189-194. 17 ref.
Abstract In this study, 5 fields were harvested, with a shorter period between pesticide application and harvesting each time. Virtually all exposure was dermal. The pattern of pesticide residue exposure was similar to that of citrus harvesters. Despite dose rates estimated at up to 14mg/h, red blood cell cholinesterase was only slightly inhibited when compared with unexposed controls. The stable decay pattern and relatively low toxicity of phosalone suggest that it presents little hazard to workers.
Descriptors (primary) pesticides; phosalone; orchards; fruit picking
