Title Characterization of potential indoor sources of ozone.

Abstract Domestic electrostatic air cleaners, 2 photocopy machines, 2 electric typewriters and a portable electrostatic air cleaner were tested for potential ozone generation. Ozone emission from photocopying machines was 48-158µg per copy, giving rise to atmospheric ozone concentrations of up to 396µg/m3 (0.202ppm) in poorly ventilated premises. Days when outside concentrations are greater than 98µg/m3 (0.05ppm) are of particular concern. Maintenance of machines reduced ozone production to below detectable levels.
