Abstract |
Translation of: Betriebsunfälle und Wetter. Münchener medizinische Wochenschrift, München, Germany (Fed.Rep.), 1976, Vol.118, No.3, p.69-72. Illus. 11 ref. (CIS 77-277). The influence of the weather, especially warm wind and humid conditions, on the accident situation has been the subject of several studies with contradictory results. This comparative study of 36,547 accidents in the automobile industry and the prevailing weather conditions in south-west Germany for 1971-1974 shows a striking increase in accidents during south-west weather conditions with influx of warm air and unstable processes (heat thunderstorms). This is in line with the observation of a large incidence of accidents, especially traffic accidents, in relation to warm-air advection phases (foehn conditions) in the foreland of the Alps. There was no difference in accident frequency between German and the mostly meridional foreign workers. |
