| Abstract |
MD thesis. Report of a survey in a plant manufacturing spare parts and component parts for motor vehicles, which employed between 2,000 and 2,900 workers during the survey period. The survey was based on personnel medical records and statistics compiled by the plant safety department. The author first considers the site of injury (frequency of injury involving the hands, eyes, feet and lower limbs; difference in sites of severe and superficial injuries). The second part of the thesis is devoted to a more detailed study of the pathology of accidents, describing several types of accident and examining the problems they raise in day-to-day occupational medicine. Special chapters are devoted to accident-prone workers or those with a history of 2 or more accidents, breakdown of accidents according to length of service in a particular job in the plant, legal and practical aspects of treatment given by the plant physician, and the organisation of the medical service in the plant surveyed. |
