Abstract Chromin (perfluoroethylcyclohexanesulfonic acid) is a surfactant added to chromium electroplating baths to reduce chromic anhydride evaporation. Animal experiments have demonstrated its moderate toxicity. Inhalation of dust causes irritation of the upper airways. Chronic exposure damages the central nervous system and the parenchymatous organs. Chromin has very pronounced cumulative properties. The authors recommend a TLV of 5mg/m3.
