Title Safe well stimulation by acidizing.
Bibliographic information Data Sheet 634, Revision A (Extensive), National Safety Council, 425 North Michigan Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60611, USA, 1976. 3p. Illus. 11 ref.
Abstract This data sheet describes methods and hazards of injecting acid solutions under pressure into predominantly carbonate formations, to dissolve some of the carbonate, thereby increasing the permeability of the formation and increasing the flow capacity of the well. Sections are devoted to: acidising methods; toxicity of inhibitors mixed with acids; characteristics of hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid, acetic acid, formic acid, hydrogen sulfide; list of 14 rules for safe acidising procedures; personal protective equipment; first aid (deluge showers, etc.); dealing with acid spills.
Descriptors (primary) hydrochloric acid; petroleum and natural gas industry; acids; USA
Descriptors (secondary) formic acid; acetic acid; hydrogen sulfide; hydrofluoric acid; data sheet; emergency showers; first aid; personal protective equipment; safe working methods; elimination of spills
