Title Noise control on offshore installations.
Bibliographic information Aug./Sep. 1977, Vol.8, No.7, p.231-234. Illus. 6 ref.
Abstract After an introduction briefly describing offshore oil production installations, the reasons for noise control are presented and relevant United Kingdom regulations summarised, with details of noise limits for offshore structures expected to be imposed by the Department of Energy. General aspects of noise control are reviewed: platform layout including quiet areas, living accommodation, isolation systems, noise limits for machinery, etc. The results of 2 recent measurement surveys of existing operational platforms in the North Sea are reported. Sources of noise are identified and remedies suggested.
