||These Regulations, dated 16 Mar. 1977 (entry into force: 1 June 1977), were made under the Mineral Workings (Offshore Installations) Act 1971 and the Petroleum and Submarine Pipe-lines Act 1975. They require the provision of life buoys, life jackets, means for descending into the water, survival craft, general alarm and public address systems, and the keeping and display of plans of life-saving appliances. Other provisions concern: contents of first-aid boxes, inspection of life-saving appliances, duties of offshore installation owners and managers, civil liability, penalties, etc.
