Abstract This guide provides a listing of all commercial lasers available in the USA, together with their technical specifications (active medium, wavelength, output, etc.) and hazard classification in 4 classes. Some 2,500 models from over 170 manufacturers and distributors are included. The hazard classification is based on a scheme which has been adopted for the proposed Federal standard concerning occupational exposure to laser radiation. The procedure followed in compiling the guide is described.
