Title Anaesthetic waste gas scavenging systems.
Bibliographic information 9 Apr. 1977, Vol.1, No.6066, p.941-943. 13 ref.
Abstract The Department of Health and Social Security in the United Kingdom has recommended that waste anaesthetic scavenging systems should be installed in operating theatres to reduce pollution. Tests with 3 passive and 2 active systems are reported. All reduced halothane levels significantly, the combination of an active system and semi-closed circuitry being the most effective. Some of the benefits of a scavenging system may be lost if gases can still escape through leaks.
