| Abstract |
After an outline of the effects of electric current on man, especially on the skeletal muscles, nervous system and heart, and thermal effects, recommendations are made regarding identification of the lesion or disorders produced and especially regarding first-aid measures (resuscitation, prevention of shock). The final treatment of circulatory arrest devolves on the physician. This comprises above all use of defibrillation techniques or, in the event of cardiac arrest, of a cardiac pacemaker, plus administration of drugs. Advice for training of first-aid workers and preparation of the intervention in the event of an electrical accident. |
