Title Depression of renal function in workers exposed to high temperatures
Original title Sostojanie parcial'nyh funkcij poček u rabočih, nahodjaščihsja pod vozdejstviem vysokoj temperatury [in Russian]
Bibliographic information Mar. 1976, No.3, p.29-31. 7 ref.
Abstract Results of renal function tests in 80 workers exposed to heat at an open-hearth furnace steelworks and a tube rolling shop, and 30 workers not exposed to heat. The exposed workers, especially those with more than 6 years' employment, showed reduced glomerular filtration and renal blood flow. The disorders are attributed to extrarenal water and electrolyte (especially sodium) losses, haemoconcentration and the resulting haemodynamic disturbances in the kidney.
