Title Spermatogenesis alteration during protracted irradiation in man.

Abstract Semen analysis was performed in 72 persons with long-term (up to 22 years) exposure to ionising radiation (12 medical radiology workers, 6 luminous dial painters, 32 industrial technicians, 22 uranium miners) and 42 controls. The incidence of hypospermia (45.8%), asthenospermia (68%) and teratospermia (75%) was significantly increased, a relationship between these effects and degree of exposure being noted. Parvisemia did not differ significantly from control values. Hypofertility and infertility were correspondingly frequent. The findings are discussed in relation to the literature.
