Abstract Continuation of earlier studies (CIS 74-1296) extended to cover a total of 2,343 microwave workers and 801 controls over 5 years. Comparison of lens abnormalities found (opacities, vacuoles, or posterior subcapsular iridescence) showed the 2 groups to be essentially the same, and did not support the hypothesis that microwave exposure causes lens damage in humans. The results suggest that the existing safety level of 10mW/cm2 is adequate.
