| Abstract |
Description and results of 2 batteries of tests carried out in 20 oil refinery employees supervising control panels. The monotony of this routine task caused mental fatigue and stress which might affect performance. Conative attention was altered and there was a decline in concentration during each shift. Remedial measures are recommended to maintain alertness (training and practice drills, noise and vibration control, adequate lighting, thermal comfort, precise assessment of aptitude at pre-employment examination, etc.). |
