| Abstract |
After reviewing the hazards associated with the use of cutting fluids in mist form (skin and respiratory disorders, falls due to slipping), the author reports on the results of measurements made in the vicinity of machines cooled by oil mists. The concentrations measured exceeded the permissible concentration in the German Dem.Rep. (5µg/m3), especially in the proximity of gear grinders and cylindrical grinders. Enumeration of the main cutting fluids employed as mists, and description of the appropriate protective measures (frequent change of clothing, thorough personal hygiene, personal protective equipment, enclosure and automation of machinery, etc.). |
