Abstract Under these regulations, which came into force on 1 Jan. 1975, concession owners and installation owners, installation managers, masters of vessels and employers of divers must provide the necessary equipment for diving operations and follow specific procedures in this respect. Diving supervisors must be appointed to exercise immediate control of diving operations. Other provisions concern the keeping of logbooks, and require that divers shall be certified fit for diving and shall unless experienced only dive after instruction and under close supervision by another diver. Requirements are imposed for periodic testing and daily examination of diving equipment and for the provision of rescue services. There are 2 schedules, listing provisions to be contained in diving rules, and laying down specifications concerning compression chambers.
