Abstract |
Studies of subjective thermal comfort sensations of personnel employed in some 150 offices and 180 factories were performed in 1947, 1964 and 1973. Numerous diagrams illustrate the relationships between the following factors: proposed and actual ambient temperatures and humidity in offices and factories in different industries; subjective thermal sensation and frequency of colds compared with actual thermal conditions in offices; work fitness and efficiency, amount of clothing, skin temperature and ambient temperature. In order to achieve thermal comfort it was necessary to have appreciably higher temperatures in 1973 than in 1964. The comfort temperature for sedentary workers in winter increased by 5-7°C between 1947 and 1973. (Summary and captions in English). |
