Abstract These directives, based on laboratory research and published data, are subdivided as follows: sound pressure expressed in dB; standardisation and measurement of industrial noise (conditions and procedures, measuring instruments); noise abatement by sound absorption (bases for calculation and examples, table of absorption coefficients for various materials, baffles and suspended screens); noise abatement by sound insulation (bases for calculation and examples, noise attenuation parameters of certain materials, recommendations for practical use); noise control by sound shielding; use of earmuffs and earplugs; typical noise levels measured at various workposts (forging shops, deep-drawing and blanking shops, metalworking shops, foundries, welding shops, woodworking, etc.).
