Title Percutaneous penetration of some pesticides and herbicides in man.
Bibliographic information Apr. 1974, Vol.28, No.1, p.126-132. 14 ref.
Abstract 12 pesticides and herbicides (azodrin, ethion, guthion, malathion, parathion, baygon, carbaryl, aldrin, dieldrin, lindane, 2,4-D, diquat) labelled with carbon 14 were applied to the forearms of human subjects, and the urinary excretion of carbon 14 was determined. Data obtained after intravenous dosing was used to correct the skin penetration data for incomplete urinary recovery. The data indicate that all the pesticides and herbicides tested are absorbed. The least absorbed was diquat, and the greatest absorption was found with carbaryl.
