Abstract N-methylcarbamic acid dicresyl ester (Dicresyl) is a promising insecticide and acaricide, particularly for the veterinary protection of livestock. Its toxicity, however, requires special precautions in storage, transportation and applications in agriculture and veterinary medicine. The inhibition of blood cholinesterase activity (around 24 to 43% after exposure of 1 to 2 days) is an early symptom of poisoning. In the light of data from animal experiments, the authors recommend a TLV of 0.5 mg/m3 for Dicresyl in the working environment.
