Title Tuberculosis verrucosa caused by mycobacterium balnei in mine waters (Case study)
Original title Mycobacterium balnei v důlních vodách jako původce verukózní tuberkulózy kůže (Kasuistické sdělení) [in Czech]
Bibliographic information Apr. 1973, Vol.48, No.2, p.97-99. Illus. 4 ref.
Abstract 15 cases of tuberculosis verrucosa were discovered, within the last few years, among Czechoslovak coalminers. Tissue samples taken from a miner were subjected to histological and bacteriological examinations. An atypical mycobacterium of the type mycobacterium balnei was isolated, similar to the microorganism found in samples of water taken from mines, and to those which, according to American and Scandinavian authors, give rise to mycosis from swimming-pools.
