Abstract These directives, intended for hospitals and laboratories which analyse human blood and other biologic substances, call for strict observance of hygienic rules. Direct contact with blood, urine, faeces, etc. must be avoided. Pipetting by direct mouth aspiration is prohibited. Washing hands before and after taking samples is compulsory. Gloves should be used whenever possible.
