| Abstract |
The author discusses the safety and training of operators of large and small power plants (boilers and turbines) in the paper industry. Aspects covered are: operational safety (which depends mainlyon good housekeeping), good lighting, provision of accommodation and facilities for personnel in boiler and turbine houses; safety during maintenance operations; safety of automatically controlled boilers including requirements for controls, their maintenance and testing. The importance of instruction in mechanical and electrical safety during technical and practical training courses in boiler house operations is emphasised. |
