||Ignition and spontaneous combustion of timber products undergoing heat treatment in the timber industry

||The author points out that ignition and spontaneous combustion of timber products may occur even at temperatures lower than normal combustion temperatures. The following factors are mentioned: length of heat application and the likelihood of continuous heat accumulation which affects the slow chemical decomposition process that occurs below 100°C (wood floor, sawdust and chips); gas accumulation in the heat-treatment chambers due to faults in the ventilation installation or the interruption of the hardboard-panel transport system. The following safety measures are recommended: do not halt the fans even if a fire breaks out; never exceed the specified operating temperatures; dispose of waste wood; keep the heating installations under close supervision.
