Abstract This article presents the highlights and main findings after 18 months of a programme carried out in a metalworking plant in Quebec, Canada, taking into account human factors and psychology for influencing safety attitudes and behaviours. The programme had a highly successful outcome, one of the notable results being a 92% lower accident frequency rate.
