Abstract Each year in France, more than 200,000 incidences of striking, slipping, being caught or other involuntary interruptions to movement are the cause of occupational accidents with lost work time. Such accidents represent roughly one third of all accidents with loss of work time. All sectors of activity and all occupations are affected. Contents of this practical information sheet on accidents caused by involuntary interruptions to movement: definitions; accident statistics; difficulties in implementing preventive measures; hazards; possible preventive measures, It replaces the previous version published in 1985 ( CIS 05-713).
