Abstract The aim of this literature survey was to identify and analyze evidence on the cumulative economic impacts of safety and health regulations. The study examined two types of cumulative economic effects: the impact of regulations on business performance and the wider effects on other groups in society and society overall. The research included several case studies examining the impact of regulations on two sectors (construction and chemicals). Findings are discussed.
