Abstract Since the early 2000s, concern about the presence of beryllium (Be) in workplaces has continued to increase. Professionals who are part of the occupational health network use the IRSST's laboratories to document the presence of Be and worker exposure to this metal. Sample preparation requires many manipulations and an analysis lasts several days. The objective of this study was to develop a faster method for evaluating Be concentrations in the air and on work surfaces. As part of the program of monitoring and control of worker exposure to beryllium, this study led to the development of a specific analytical process by molecular fluorescence, faster and cheaper than the conventional method.
