Abstract Compared to 2009, the number of occupational accidents in France in 2010 increased by 1.1%, while the corresponding frequency index decreased from 23.4 to 23.2 accidents per 1000 employees. While fatal occupational accidents had seen a decrease of 5.4% in 2009, they decreased by a further 1.7% in 2010. Occupational diseases increased by 2.7%, reaching 50,688 recorded cases in 2010. Commuting accidents involving a loss of work time increased by 4.9%, with commuting accident fatalities increasing by 0.8%. This article presents these statistics by main sector of activity.
