||This booklet on smoking prevention explains that tobacco smoke contains over 4000 chemicals, most of which are toxic (including at least 50 which are officially declared as being carcinogenic by health authorities), as well as nicotine, one of the most highly addictive drugs. These chemicals include pesticides, radioactive substances (including polonium 210), carbon monoxide, acetone, mercury, arsenic, tar, lead and cyanides.
