Abstract |
Inhalation of some dusts, gases, or other air contaminants at the workplace as well as some personal exposures, such as cigarette smoking, can harm worker's lungs. Spirometry testing may identify breathing problems early, which may prevent more serious problems. Regulations specify spirometry testing on workers who perform job tasks that are physically demanding, require wearing a respirator and are exposed to possible breathing hazards. Aimed at workers, this information note explains what is involved in spirometry testing. See also ISN 111239. |
