Title Biomonitoring of tram drivers exposed to airborne platinum, rhodium and palladium
Bibliographic information Oct. 2007, Vol.81, No.1, p.109-114. Illus. 16 ref.
Abstract The aim of this study was to evaluate urinary levels of platinum (Pt), rhodium (Rh) and palladium (Pd) in occupationally exposed subjects. A total of 122 healthy male subjects were studied, including municipal tram drivers and 58 control subjects. There were statistically significant differences between urinary Pt and Rh levels among exposed subjects and controls, while no difference in Pd levels was observed. Urinary concentrations of Pt and Rh, though still low, could be of some concern among workers heavily exposed to urban car traffic.
