Title Nanoparticle dermal absorption and toxicity: A review of the literature
Bibliographic information Oct. 2009, Vol.82, No.9, p.1043-1055. 106 ref.
Abstract The article reviews the literature on the percutaneous absorption of nanoparticles and their effect on skin. It highlights the important knowledge gaps and research needs in areas including: health and environmental impact; life cycle of nanoparticles; exposure routes; behaviour of nanoparticles in the body; risk for workers. Data on titanium dioxide are inconsistent, data on carbon-based nanoparticles are limited and data on metal-based nanoparticles are rare.
