Abstract Unlike contact eczema, occupational urticaria is rare. This study reviewed all cases of urticaria having been recognized as an occupational disease in Switzerland from 1984 to 2005. It highlights a wide variety of causes and activities. A quarter of the cases of contact urticaria were accompanied by non-skin symptoms which in 6% of cases involved acute anaphylactic reactions.
