Title Work health promotion, job well-being, and sickness absences - A systematic review and meta-analysis
Bibliographic information Nov. 2008, Vol.50, No.11, p.1216-1227. Illus. 123 ref.
Abstract The aim of this systematic literature analysis was to study the association between work health promotion and job well-being, work ability, absenteeism, and early retirement. A total of 46 articles published between 1970 and 2005 were included in the analysis. There was moderate evidence that work health promotion decreased sickness absences (risk ratio RR 0.78) and increased work ability (RR 1.38). It also seems to increase mental well-being (RR 1.39). Other findings are discussed.
