Abstract |
Launched in May 1995, the "Good health is good business" (GHGB) campaign sought to raise awareness of occupational health and to improve employers' competence in the management of health risks. Effective health risk management is the key to reducing the incidence of occupational ill health. Earlier phases of the campaign (see CIS 98-1584) focused on specific health risks including musculoskeletal disorders, respiratory sensitizers, noise, occupational cancers, dermatitis, hand arm vibration and solvents. The fourth phase has a greater emphasis on securing compliance with the law. HSE and Local Authorities undertook a range of initiatives to persuade employers (particularly those in small and medium sized firms) to take effective action to protect workers from work-related illness. |
