Abstract This article describes the measures adopted by a chocolate confectionery supplying the hotel industry for the prevention of upper extremity musculoskeletal disorders among its employees, who work with labour-intensive methods involving precise and repetitive movements. A new plant commissioned in 2003 is more automated and has been designed taking ergonomics into account.
