Title Can appropriate shoes protect against falls, slips and trips?
Original title Schützt der richtige Schuh vor Stolpern, Rutschen, Stürzen? [in German]
Bibliographic information 2008, No.12, p.10. Illus.
Abstract Three specialists give their opinion concerning the role played by shoes in falls, slips and trips. Shoes need to be adapted to the specific operating needs and hazards of the enterprise. For example, rail workers working in marshalling yards should wear high shoes to avoid ankle injuries. Safety shoes should be selected based on orthopaedic criteria, in particular with respect to their shape, the rigidity of the upper part, the fastening, the sole and the heel. The sole must be adapted to the type of flooring and be shock-absorbing.
