Abstract This guide has been prepared in collaboration with trade associations, trade unions and employer organisations. It is aimed at all persons who have management, supervisory or other safety and health interests in warehouses. It will also be of value to employees and their health and safety representatives. It is intended as an aid to safety and health management, to reduce the numbers of occupational accidents and diseases in the warehousing and storage sector in the United Kingdom. Contents: introduction; general health, safety and welfare; materials handling (manual handling, mechanical handling, vehicles, work at height); storage (storage systems, automated storage and retrieval systems, temperature-controlled storage, storage of packaged dangerous substances).
