Abstract This report describes a collaborative project involving the International Labour Organization and Thailand's Ministry of Public Health resulting in the development of operational procedures for primary health care units. Health care workers were trained to provide health services to all types of workers, including home-based workers and agricultural workers. The model developed was found to be effective and could be usefully applied to other countries for providing similar occupational health services for workers in the informal economy.
