Title Effects of occupational exposure in pesticide plant on workers' serum and erythrocyte cholinesterase activity
Bibliographic information 4th Quarter 2007, Vol.20, No.4, p.381-385. 21 ref.
Abstract Blood samples were collected from 63 workers in an Iranian pesticide manufacturing plant in order to determine cholinesterase levels in their erythrocytes, both before they started employment there and three months after starting work. There was a significant decrease in cholinesterase levels in erythrocytes (48IU/g to 37IU/g) and in serum cholinesterase levels (9569IU/L to 7970IU/L) in the workers after three months of exposure. In light of these results, a routine assessment of cholinesterase levels is recommended for workers engaged in the manufacturing and handling of pesticides.
