Abstract Flour is the primary cause of occupational asthma in France. Bakers are constantly exposed to flour dust in the course of their job and are the most affected. Respiratory allergies (asthma and rhinitis) are particularly common in this occupation and can arise at any given time during bakers' careers. Among workers notifying these diseases, one in four is a baker. Contents of this Internet document on bakers' asthma: prevention initiatives of the French national occupational disease insurance for salaried workers (CNAMTS); simple and effective prevention measures; information aimed at bakers; joint initiatives with machinery suppliers; "Safer tools 2008" campaign; educational and recreational comic book.
