Title Measurement, evaluation, and assessment of peripheral neurological disorders caused by hand-transmitted vibration
Bibliographic information Apr. 2008, Vol.81, No.5, p.559-573. Illus. 17 ref.
Abstract This article attempts to define significant peripheral neurological symptoms caused by hand-transmitted vibration and how these symptoms and related signs may be measured. Scales for evaluating the extent of the symptoms and their probability of being related to vibration exposure are defined. A method of relating the symptoms to both the signs of disorder and the pattern of vibration exposure is illustrated. It was found that assessments of severity vary according to the reasons for assessing the health effects of vibration and depend on local practice and convenience, but a method allowing the combining of evaluations of symptoms and signs is demonstrated.
