Abstract |
This profile draft was prepared in accordance with guidelines set by the U.S. Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry and the EPA. The key literature related to the toxic effects of phenol is identified and reviewed. Contents: public health statement; health effects; relevance to public health; chemical and physical information; production, import, use and disposal; potential for human exposure; analytical methods; regulations and guidelines; glossary. Health hazards include: irritation of the skin, eyes and respiratory tract; pneumotoxic effects, including hyperaemia, bronchopneumonia, bronchitis; arrythmia; haematological effects; hepatic effects; renal effects; neurological effects.
