Abstract This article discusses the benefits of employer-managed health promotion programmes. Such programmes create competitive advantage by encouraging employees to remain fit and in good health. They include, for example, improving the physical and psychosocial work environments, anti-smoking campaigns, on-site gyms and flu vaccination, as well as information on healthy diets and lifestyles.
